Frequently Asked Questions
How do I take care of my Maelu design?
Hand wash your item in cold water with gentle soap and air dry. Light bleeding may occasionally occur in the first wash and is normal due to the nature of natural dyes. If this occurs, soak your item in cold water and then run under cold water until the water runs clear. Iron if needed.
Will the color and print of my Maelu design be exactly the same as shown in the picture?
Every batch of fabric we receive is unique and may have slight differences in the pattern and dyes. This is the result of the block printing process where each pattern is individually hand stamped on the fabric. The colors may vary slightly due to the surrounding environmental elements at the time they were made, such as the moisture in the air, characteristics of the organic materials used, drying time, etc. As a result your Maelu design may have slight variations from the item shown in the picture. These variations add to the charm of our pieces and helps make every item unique.

How did you get started with Maelu?
After working for a few years in a consulting firm in New York City I got burnt out by the corporate lifestyle and decided to travel for a year in Asia. Along the way I fell in love with the textiles and craftsmanship in India and got sucked into the beauty of the crazy country. I stayed in India for 6 months spending my days eating tons of vegetarian food and working on growing this small dream project. I developed a relationship with the loveliest family of block-printers and together we brought my designs to life!
I'm a blogger/stylist/editor - can I borrow your designs for a photo shoot?
